Last year around this time, I started getting hit heavily with emails from other photographers requesting a mentoring session with me. I was really blown away because I was still so very new (and I still am) to the industry and really didn’t think it was my place to start mentoring. I was still learning (and I still am!) and wasn’t sure if I even had anything to offer. After I met with another photographer however, she made me realize that I DO have something to offer — a lot actually! Other than doing mentoring sessions with photographers that I adore for extra help along the way, I have really been self taught and taken it upon myself to learn the ins and outs of making this life long hobby a business! I still go to some of my favorites for help here and there and luckily they help me and put me at ease when I run into new situations! Having gone through all the rough trials and tribulations of just starting out, I am sure that I can help others and it feels amazing each time I do! I knew I shouldn’t have switched majors from education to business so quickly in college ;-) Teaching/mentoring has quickly become a second passion of mine!
This past year I mentored a total of 16 girls and have two mentoring sessions this month which will make a total of 19! I can’t even believe there were 19 girls out there wanting me to mentor them and show them the ways. That is simply amazing! I am so grateful for each and every one of you that came to me for help and I love love loved watching the ‘lightbulb’ come on for you at certain times. I told my husband when I first started in the industry “I never want to be one of those mean photographers that forgets where she came from and refuses to help the new people. Make sure you hold me to that okay?!” and he promised he would. I think he’s pretty proud that I have remained (and will always remain) one of the ‘nice photographers’ :) haha!
As a result of recently finding some work/life balance however, I have decided to only take on 10 mentoring sessions for 2015. I will also be doing my ‘Anything Goes’ photographer socials 3-4 times a year! Each ‘Anything Goes’ social will be limited to 5 photographers to keep it smaller and allow for plenty of time for questions, head shots, etc! :)
One-on-one mentoring sessions for next year will be remain the same in content (read about them here!) however pricing will be going up to $500 for 2 hours! ‘Anything Goes’ socials will also remain the same content (read about them here!) however pricing for those will go up to $375.
For a limited time, you can take $25 off of either of these and reserve your seat for next year (mentoring date chosen by you, ‘Anything Goes’ social dates to be announced at a later date). If you’re interested in saving $25, you can use the links below to reserve your spot now!
I’m so excited to continue mentoring, building our industry up in a positive way, helping one another, creating community over competition, and meeting all of the photographers out there that need the extra help to make a huge leap in their photography career. Let’s create something beautiful together and keep building the industry up! Xoxo!
