If you would’ve told me 4 years ago when I started this business that I would one day be blogging a wedding I shot in Paris…literally typing the words “Paris, France” in the header, I would’ve laughed at you and never believed you, LOL!!! That totally just felt so amazing :)
Ashley and Greg are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. Truly to their core, they’re just the sweetest people with the hugest hearts. They brought me on their journey to Paris to get married after getting engaged there almost a year before. It’s their place. It’s where their story starts and I love that they brought their family and friends to Paris to watch them say “I Do” and witness such a beautiful moment.
Ashley had a vision for her Paris wedding and it was a beautiful one. Her dress alone made a huge statement. Two pieces, lace and buttons for days. She had red roses and hydrangeas and Greg wore a navy blue suit. It almost felt old glam to me. Ashely, her mom and her best friend got ready at Hotel Bourgogne & Montana in the heart of Paris and her room was so pretty!! It had these french doors that opened to a terrace overlooking a little floral shop on a cobble stone street. How very French?! I just adored it!
After the getting ready and detail shots were done, we headed off to do a first look with Ashley and her dad. She has Italian parents like I do, so I knew there would be a lot of emotion here. Her sweet dad… he couldn’t keep it in from the second he saw her beautiful self before him. His little girl was getting married and she looked absolutely amazing. His tears showed how much he adores her. She gave him a gift, pinned it into his suit and he cried even more.
We drove to an American Church in Paris where we were greeted by an American pastor — who lives in Paris and has for many many years yet speaks zero French, LOL!! This church was amazing though. As soon as I walked in, I was taken by surprise at how beautiful, large and historic it was. Stained glass everywhere, amazing architecture… it was very Parisian and I couldn’t believe I was about to shoot a wedding there.
Greg walked out with the pastor and he looked so nervous. I love that look on a grooms face… that nervous but ‘can’t wait to do this’ look. When Ashley walked down the aisle, he cried. His face filled with redness and he couldn’t hold it back, just like her dad. You could tell with one look that these two are meant to be. The way he looks at her like no other woman has ever existed and the way she looks back at him like she’s never loved anyone before him. Their love is amazing and it definitely shines through.
For portrait time, Ashley and Greg rented a private car and driver that whisked us around Paris for the remainder of the afternoon. We started on the steps of the church, went to Trocadero which is a platform you can stand on with the Eiffel Tower in the distance (this was my favorite location), headed over to The Louvre, and ended at the Shangri-La Hotel where Ashley and Greg would spend their first married night, with a terrace that overlooked the Eiffel Tower.
Each one of these locations was a dream. Having a private car and driver to take us to each of these places was even more of a dream. We were able to get some of the most amazing shots and because their wedding was on a Thursday, all of the touristy spots were WAY less crowded than they would’ve been on a weekend. And for the most part, when people saw Ashley in her beautiful white dress, they got out of the way and let her have her portraits where she wanted them, LOL!! They also stood back and took iPhone pictures haha!! That’s to be expected I guess :)
Their wedding ended at Laperouse, a Parisian restaurant and from there, the night was over for me. It went by in the flash of an eye…almost 9 hours of shooting and it felt like it was over before it began. I still can’t believe it ever happened!
I hope you enjoy getting a peek into Ashley + Greg’s perfect Paris, France wedding day and I hope you’re able to see their love for one another and how much thought went into this perfect day by Ashley. She should be a planner, truly. Every T crossed, every I dotted…she was incredible.
Greg and Ashley, thank you both from the bottom of my hearts for taking me on this amazing journey, putting me up in a hotel just 5 minutes from the Eiffel Tower for 6 days and treating me like family. You two are the most precious souls and I just adore you both. I could never thank you enough in this lifetime for this experience and adventure and I can’t wait to see you both again in the states very soon :) XOXO!
