Instead of sharing a beautiful engagement session today, I want to chat about WHY I encourage them!! :)

Most of my packages include a complimentary engagement session. For me, adding an engagement session isn’t just adding ‘fluff’ to a photography package, its adding a really valuable piece that’s also really important.

I have had a few couples that don’t wish to use their engagement session and I always try to encourage them to just take advantage of it! Why? Because for one, ITS FREE! It comes complimentary with most of my packages and its a use it or lose it policy, so why not take advantage?

But thats not the most important part…

The engagement session is kind of like OUR first date!! :) We get a chance to hang out together before your wedding day. We get the opportunity to not only get to know each other, have great conversation, and laugh together, but we also gain a comfort level together! You get to see how I work behind the camera, and most importantly, I get to see how you interact in front of my camera! This way, we all know what to expect from each other on your wedding day!

I like to make it so that the engagement session is our warm up/first date. Now we know each other… we feel comfortable with each other and making my clients feel comfortable also adds trust to the mix! If you trust me and feel comfortable with me, guess what? You’re going to feel that way on your wedding day too!!

Comfort + trust on a wedding day = laid back, natural photos! Win-win!! 

I’ve noticed the couples that choose not to take advantage of their complimentary engagement session, sometimes feel a little stiff in front of my camera on the wedding day, and its because we don’t know each other! I walk in on your wedding day as a stranger and I think a stranger with a camera is definitely grounds for stiffness and shyness!

SO! Instead of forgoing the engagements, lets book them! Let’s grab that one or two hours of one-on-one time with each other by the horns and laugh together!! Let’s have fabulous conversation, get to know each other, and gain that comfort level that we both need to aid in creating beautiful, soft, intimate, laid back images on your wedding day. You deserve that!!

I never want to walk in on your wedding day as a stranger. I want to walk in as friends, I want to walk in and hug you and tell you how gorgeous you look and how excited and blessed I am to be a part of your most special day!! Sometimes I don’t meet my brides until their engagement session and thats why it’s SO important!

Giving you an experience, not just images! I’m invested in my couples and my goal isn’t to just show up on the wedding day, take photo’s and deliver them. My goal is to create an experience that makes my couples thrilled to work with me!! Not just presently for the engagements and wedding, but one day when you decide to grow your family and need maternity photo’s, too…and family photo’s down the line as well ;-)
